Bellcrash are Mark Bell and Paul McMahon. They are producers from Belfast who met each other 4 years ago through a mutual friend who thought that they should work together.
The friend was right because Mark and Paul really clicked. They discovered that they not only had a mutual interest in jazz, funk and Latin music but also all forms of music technology. They agreed to work together on an ep which was eventually released on 7th sign recordings. The ep was called the Coalition ep. and it exceeded their expectations. Not only did it sell out but it was picked up by some of the most influential d.j.s today. They got wholehearted support from the likes of Danny Krivvit, Laurent Garnier, Richard Dorfmeister, Osun Lade, Rainer Truby and LTJ Bukem. Bukem liked the Bellcrash sound so much he asked them to contribute a track for the now legendary earth series. Another massive supporter of Bellcrash has been Gilles Peterson who continually played their first single at clubs and on his worldwide show(radio 1).
Meanwhile, Mark and Paul had been so busy in the studio they decided to compile an album. They agreed that the album would have to be as diverse as their musical influences. Eighteen months later the album was finished and all that remained was to find a home for it. To celebrate the completion of Suzume Park the pair took themselves off to Barcelona where they ended up in the company of Nigel Hayes who loved the album and passed it on to Sunshine Recordings where Bellcrash now call home. 2003 saw the release of the Langoth - don’t care Bellcrash remix which went down a storm. 2004 brings the first two Bellcrash singles to be released by sunshine closely followed by the album Suzume Park.
