Karuan was born a son of Kurds in 1976 Vienna. His love of music develops from his admiration for the Kurdish singer Sivan Perver and traditional Kurdish music. In 1995, Karuan began with projects that were inspired by folk and African-American music.
Today the autodidact Karuan combines comprehensive experience with his own music. The result is a bridge between the Oriental culture of his family and the European culture in which he lives.
His talent to integrate a variety of instruments into his arrangements – flutes, guitars and most notably the perfect implementation of vocals – makes all his music soulful. Karuan takes you on a journey through the Kurdish mountains, into Brooklyn and back to Vienna.
